FASHION SCHAU

The Fashion Schau is an event put on by SERVitecture, an Ohio State student organization to benefit Dress for Success Columbus. The theme of this years Fashion Schau is Scuplture. Student designers create wearable designs through using unconventional materials. These designs are then displayed on a constructed runway in a fashion show format. In the end, judges pick the best outfits based on material, theme, and creativity. All proceeds from the event go to Dress for Success Columbus. I was a designer for this event and my dress was displayed at the event.

This dress is my interpretation of how sculpture is created through three dimensionality and form. In my design, the layers are made from bubble wrap, draped into an organic form. The bubble wrap not only creates a three dimensional object through its continuous surface, but also has another level of three dimensionality through its air bubbles. I not only wanted to address three dimensionality, but movement as well. Through designing this dress, I was able to explore how fashion can become a fluid, moving, sculpture.
